Battery Storage Tips
Battery Tips: If you have to shut down all or part of your fleet due to seasonal work or the unexpected
If you have to shut down all or part of your fleet due to seasonal work or the unexpected (COVID-19) the best option is to leave the batteries plugged into the chargers when shutting down. All chargers made in the last 30 or so years include a refresh charge that will keep the batteries topped off if they are not disconnected. The second best option is to fully charge the battery, unplug the battery, and leave it unplugged. The worst thing that can be done is store the battery when it is partially or completely discharged. Lift trucks may have a slight drain on the batteries even if the key is off - which can completely discharge your batteries.
A battery that is fully charger can sit for 30 days.
Batteries should be charged every 30 days and the water level checked/ topped off after the boost charge is done.
